Lesson Plan

Dear Volunteer Teacher,

The lesson plan provides an overall picture of what you need to teach. It is recommended that you follow the objectives and the learning outcomes stated in the lesson plan.

We suggest that that you read the chapter thoroughly and research on how to teach the topic effectively to meet the learning outcomes.

Kindly note, while the lesson plan is a guide to teach, you can also add your own teaching elements to enhance the learning process of the children.

Activities

[Author - Kripa S]

1. Share examples of point, line segments from daily life. (example: star, bat, tubelight, side of a fan, bench, door etc)

2. Make 8-10 chits of different types of angles. Hand over one chit to one bench and ask them to enact what angle they are. Eg: If it is an acute angle, the students will stand close to middle student, if it is an obtuse angle, the students will stand far away from the middle student. If it is right angle, the students will stand on his one side and in front to depict 90 deg.

3. Take a ruled sheet of paper. Draw (in thick colour) two parallel lines l and m. Draw a transversal t to the lines l and m. Place a tracing paper over the figure drawn. Trace the lines l, m and t. Slide the tracing paper along t, until l coincides with m. You find that angle '1' on the traced figure coincides with angle '2' of the original figure. Observe and see if there are any other angles that are coinciding. (TB: page 107 activity)
