1. Cut a piece of paper in four square pieces. Cut each square piece further into four square pieces. Keep these pieces on the floor or a table so that the pieces acquire the shape of the original piece of

paper.Can you join the pieces back to make the original piece? Is there a change in the property of the paper?

2.Group students to play this game:

a) Let one name a common process (eg: rusting of iron)

b) The other will decide if it is a physical or chemical change. The second student an now pick another and name another process. continue...

5. Take a balloon and blow it. Take care that it does not burst. The shape and size of the balloon have changed. Now, let the air escape the balloon.

6. Cut paper into multiple pieces. Can you get the complete paper back?

7. Dissolve two spoon of salt in a bowl of water and heat. After the water evaporates, the residue that is left is salt.

8.Take copper sulphate and heat it.After heating, the blue colour changes to white. Add few drops of water. It turns blue again.

9.Measure the weight of a candle before and after burning.

10. Take an apple, a brinjal, a potato, a tomato, a cucumber, a banana; cut each into small pieces; place them in separate plates and expose them to open air for some time. Record your observation

11. Add soda in a bottle filled with water and mix well.

Keep lemon juice in a separate bowl. Add lemon juice to the bottle now and quickly seal its mouth with a balloon.

12. Take a teaspoon of vinegar (acetic acid) in a test tube and add a pinch of baking soda (Sodium bi Carbonate) to it. If you do not have vinegar, lemon juice can also be used. You observe bubbles coming out with a hissing sound. Pass this gas through freshly prepared Limewater (Calcium Hydroxide).
