Objective: To teach the students about algebraic constants, variables, expressions and patterns.

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Introduction to algebra- constants and variables through patterns.
  2. Identify the laws from the given pairs of numbers and given tables.
  3. Form algebraic terms from given patterns.

Learning Outcome:

  1. Students know to form algebraic terms using constants and variables.

2. Divide class into 2 Groups. Ask Team A to give a series of 4 pairs of constant and variables to the other team. Ask Team B to form Algebric Terms using those pairs. Now Repeat this with Team B giving Team A a set of Constants and Variables.

3. Divide the class into two groups. Collect all the pencils/pens from the class. First give all pencils to Group A and ask them to make a pattern (triangles or squares) using the pencils which has a constant and variable. Now ask Group B to draw a chart of the expressions for the number of pencil used and the constants and variables in the expression. Repeat this with Group B making a series of patterns
