Objective:To use and identify positive, comparative and superlative degrees of regular adjectives

Subtopics to be covered:

1. What should adjectives be comparable?

2. What are positive, comparative and superlative degrees of comparison of one and two syllable adjectives.

3. What form of adjective is used when we compare two persons, things or places?

4. What form of adjective is used when we compare more than two persons, things or places?

1. Write few adjectives in cards. Ask the students to select one card. The student then has to write all degrees of the word on the board.

2. Keep 3 boxes of different colors, one for positive, one for comparative, and the third for superlative. Also, have a few chits ready (with adjectives written in various forms). Ask the student to pick up a chit containing a word. Depending on the degree of the word, the student has to drop the chit in the corresponding box.

3. Ask them to compare people or things in the class. For example, height of students, weight of books, etc. (Please make sure to include only positive comparisons)

4. Have a set of topic cards and a set of adjective cards. Ask the students to pick up one card from each pool. The student then has to make sentences. For example, the topic is weather and the adjective is hot. So, the student can make three sentences- March is hot, April is hotter, and May is hottest.
