1. Ask the children to prepare a chart containing a list of Pure substances around them which they commonly use. Draw pictures wherever possible.
2. Take a little amount of mercuric oxide in a test tube. Heat it first gently, and then strongly in a bunsen flame. Observe the test tube. You will notice a silver mirror gradually appearing on upper part of the test tube and later, globules of mercury will be seen. Insert a glowing splinter into the test tube.
