Objective: To teach the students about the area of some closed figures such as Triangle, Quadrilateral, Parallelogram, Rhombus and Trapezium.

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Revision (Area and perimeter calculation of triangle/square/rectangle)
  2. Area of the quadrilateral and types of quadrilateral
  3. Definition of parallelogram and area of a parallelogram
  4. Definition of rhombus and area of the rhombus in terms of its diagonals

Learning Outcome:

  1. Students know the definition and area calculation of geometrical shapes, Triangle, Quadrilateral, Parallelogram and Rhombus.

1. Make a measuring scale on a wall till 180 cm. Measure the height of every student in your class on that scale

2. If you walk fast you will reach finish line sooner or later? How to check? Keep a walking race. 5 Students walk from one end of classroom to other end of the room. See who reaches first. How is speed of the student related to time here? Discuss and share.
