Objective: To teach the children about the concepts of Ratio, Proportion and Variation.

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Express ratios in fractions and to reduce the fraction to the lowest form.
  2. Equivalent Ratios and Comparison of Ratios
  3. Learn to calculate 'The product of the means' and 'The product of Extremes'.
  4. Direct Variation and how to find it.
  5. Proportion Application.

1. In a class, there are 20 boys and 40 girls. What is the ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls?

2. Saurabh takes 15 minutes to reach school from his house and Sachin takes one hour to reach school from his house. Find the ratio of the time taken by Saurabh to the time taken by Sachin.

3. In a school, there were 73 holidays in one year. What is the ratio of the number of holidays to the number of days in one year

4. Measure the length and breadth of your classroom. What is the ratio of length to breadth ? Now check the ratio of length to breadth of your notebook. Are the two in same proportion ?
