2. Take a stainless steel spoon. Bring the outer side of the spoon near your face and look into it. Do you see your image in it? Is this image different from what you see in a plane mirror? Is this image erect? Is the size of the image the same, smaller or larger?

Lesson Plan version 1.1 activities

1. Ask the students to stand in pair where one is the ‘body’ while other one is the image. Ask them to stand facing each other and pretend that there is a mirror between them. The ‘body’ should raise his/her right hand and at the same time the ‘image’ should mimic the body, but like a mirror image. So, the ‘image’ should lift his/her left hand. This activity should explain the lateral inversion of image in a plane mirror. Ask the ‘body’ to touch his nose with his left hand- see what the ‘image’ does. Repeat the activity till all the children understand lateral inversion.

2. Ask the students to make a Newton’s Disk with crayons, cardboard and white paper. They can test it for themselves how seven colours appear as white colour.
