Activities

[Author - Arshea Bimal]

1. Pick a pair of students. Ask each student to name a common liquid. Now say that you will combine the two liquids into one vessel. Ask a third student for an idea to separate them.

2. Pick a pair of students. Ask one student to name a common liquid. Ask the other to name a common solid. Now say that you will combine the two into one vessel. Ask a third student for an idea to separate them.

3. Ask the students for some real life examples of the various methods of separation.

4. Ask the students for some real life examples where they have observed sedimentation.

Lesson Plan version 1.1 videos

1. Ask the class to list out solids, liquids and gases from their surrounding. You can ask them to explain why they think that a particular thing is solid, liquid or gas.

2. Ask the class- Why is it easy to adulterate the milk? (because it is easy to dissolve many things in milk- such as water, sugar and other substances).

Let there be a discussion and then a conclusion. This can be an activity for 5 minutes.
