1. Make a measuring scale on a wall till 180 cm. Measure the height of every student in your class on that scale.

Group students with same height. Make a table of length and number of students with same height (eg: 100 cm, 110 cm 120 cm…)

Find the range, mean and median of your class height.

2. Make a table of how many students were present on the 6 days. (Monday, Tuesday, .... ). Check what is the average attendance of the class for the week

Draw a bar chart if you can on the attendance

Lesson Plan version 1.1

1. Divide the class into two groups with 20-22 students in each group. Assign a

topic to each group on which they need to collect data. The following two topics can be assigned:

Favourite breakfast item (eggs and toast, idli, dosa, parathas, upma)

Favourite Music (rock, instrumental, film music, classical, folk).

2. In this activity, students have to organise the data collected by them using tally marks. Ask the two groups to organise the data collected by them using tally marks. You may also refer to the other questions given in the Examples and Exercises sections.

3. Show a few bar graphs to the students and explain how the bars represent data. Please refer to the questions given in the Examples and Exercises sections in the Textbook. After the students have analysed a few bar graphs, teach them how data can be

plotted on a bar graph.
