Objective: To introduce the names of animals, gender and their young ones

Subtopics to be covered:

- Animals with gender, male and female names

- Animals with youg ones

Learning Outcome:

- Students are able to tell animal names as per gender

- They can tell the names of the young ones of animals

- They know of the exceptions where there are no separate names for the female gender and the young ones

1. Share a list of animals with students and show how their names change as per gender. Examples,

a. Cow and Bull

b. Vixen and Fox

c. Goose and Gander

d. Hen and Rooster

e. Sow and Boar

f. Mare and Stallion

g. Lioness and Lion

h. Tigress and Tiger

i. Duck and Drake

Exception - Snake, Turtle etc.

2. Share that the names for the young ones. The names of animals differ for young ones. Examples,

a. Cow / Bull - Calf

b. Vixen / Fox - Cub

c. Goose / Gander - Gosling

d. Hen / Rooster - Chick

e. Sow / Boar / Pig - Piglet

f. Mare and Stallion - Foal

g. Lioness / Lion - Cub

h. Tigress / Tiger - Cub

i. Duck / Drake - Duckling

Exception - Crab, Ostrich, Raven etc.
