Objective: To revise Vowels and Consonants

Subtopics to be covered:

1. Learn to identify vowels and consonants as a subset of alphabets.

2. Be able to identify if a letter is a consonant or a vowel in given text.

3. Understand that every word must have a vowel

4. Be able to comprehend the pattern of the use of vowels and consonants in simple words

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to answer these questions-

1. Why is it important to know the difference between vowels and consonants?

2. What sounds do vowels make?

3. What is special about the letter 'y'?

4. What type of a vowel sound is in the word _____________?

5. How can you tell if a letter is a consonant or a vowel.

Understand that every word must have a vowel -> is not really true. There are plenty of words which don't have vowels in them

Words that do not have vowels: dry, try, spy, spry, by - to name a few only.

Y also sometimes makes a vowel sound and combines two or more vowels.

"Y" is a special alphabet. It can be a vowel or a consonant. Normally, we say, it is similar to a mushroom. Mushroom is neither a plant nor an animal.
