1. Ask students to list out the various colours of leaves that they have observed.

2. Make the students to ask around about fertilizers. What do the most common fertilizers contain?

3. Ask the students to name some parasites that they have observed. What are their hosts?

4. Take a piece of bread and moisten it with water. Leave it in a moist warm place for 2–3 days or until fluffy patches appear on them. These patches may be white, green, brown or of any other colour. What could this be?

Lesson Plan version 1.1 activties

1.Take two glass tumblers filled with water. Collect two plants having soft stems, along with their roots. Add colour (red ink) in one of the tumblers. Place the plants in each of the tumbler. Record your observations after 3-4 hours.

2. 4 to 5 leaves of a China rose plant were plucked in the afternoon. Green colour was removed by boiling the leaves in alcohol and then they were put in diluted iodine solution. The leaves turned black. Why did this happen?

3. 4 to 5 leaves of the same plant were covered with black paper without removing them from the plant. These leaves were plucked two days later. Their green colour was removed and they were dipped in iodine solution. The leaves turned black

4. Observe the black & white spots appearing on bread/pickles which are kept in moist places. Use a hand lens for this activity
