Lesson Plan version 1.1 activities

1. Feel the hair on your hands and legs and those on your head. Do they feel different? Which one seems coarse and which one seems soft?

2. Find out words for sheep, goat, camel and yak in your local language and in other languages of our country.

3. On outline maps of India and the world, find out and mark the places on the map where you find animals that provide wool. Use different colours to mark the location of different wool yielding animals.

4. Collect pieces of different types of silk cloth, probably from the scrap in a tailor’s shop. Take the help of your mother, grandmother or aunt and identify the type silk. Compare this type of silk with artificial silk which contain synthetic fibers. Or, ask the students if they are aware of any types of silk and discuss.
