I. Ask students to name 2 living being for each of the following category

  1. Amphibian
  2. Reptile
  3. Bird
  4. Mammal

II. Ask students to collect leaves of different plants and stick them in a book. For each of the leaf

  1. name the plant,
  2. categorise them as herb or shrub or tree
  3. describe the leaf – its vein type
  4. whether it is a flowering plant or not

III. Ask students to collect seeds which is used in their home (Eg. Pulses, wheat, rice, etc). Name them and note down whether they are monocotyledon or dicotyledon.

IV. From the following identify the odd one out and give reason:

  1. Mango, banyan, palm, rose (rose – shrub)
  2. Sunflower, ferns, jowar, bajra (ferns – seedless plant)
  3. Deer, fish, man, worms (worms – invertibrates)
  4. Fish, frog, snake, cat (cat – Does not lay eggs)

Lesson Plan version 1.1 activities

1. Students in each group will sort their textbooks and exercise books according to the subjects like History, English, Math etc. Then they will group their pen, pencils and erasers into separate groups.

2. Students in each group have to name at least 8 different types of living things. As they name the living things all students in the class will make a list. Now ask students to group these living things according to similarity in their looks or behavior or habitation(where they live)

3. Students will discuss and make a list of all the living things they can think of living in a forest, in the water, in the desert. Each group will work on different habitats.
