Objective: To teach students the behavior of Static Electricity as observed in Nature and everyday occurrences.

Subtopics to be covered:

• Nature of Static Charge

• How rubbing objects cause Static Charge (Creating Static Electricity)

• How Static Electricity can make objects Repel or Attract

• Types of Charges (Causes and types of Static Electricity)

• Static Electricity and Lightning

• How Friction causes Charge

Learning Outcome: 1. Students develop an understanding that static electricity involves positive and negative charges (Opposite charges attract/ Like charges repel)

2. Students know that static electricity happens because there is an imbalance between negative and positive charges in objects.

3.Students are able to provide examples of static electricity in their day-to-day experiences.
