1. Look around you, what are the substances that are natural and which are manmade?

2.What are the forms of coal? where are they used? explore and make a chart.

3. Choose any five families of your neighbourhood. Enquire whether their energy consumption (coal, gas, electricity, petrol, kerosene) has increased or decreased in the last five years. Enquire also about the measures they adopt to conserve energy

Lesson plan version 1.1 activities

1. tabulate the vehicles that use (i) Manpower (ii) Fuel

2.need: a glass beaker, sand, water, leaves, twigs pieces of fern.

Procedure:

• take a glass beaker and I spread two inches of sand at the bottom. Ipour some water and drop leaves, twigs and pieces of fern on

the sand.

• allow it to stand for two weeks. note down the change in color after two weeks. Now I gently put some sand on the top of the plant layer to a depth of two inches.

• wait for two more weeks and drain the water. Again, allow it to dry for another two weeks.

• can see the fossil imprint between the sand layers
