Objective: To introduce the concept of cell and cell structure

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Classification of cells
  2. Difference between plant and animal cells

Learning Outcome:

  1. Students know about compound microscope
  2. Students know about the structure of a cell
  3. They know how plant cells are different from animal cells

Boil a hen’s egg. Remove the shell. What do you observe? A white material surrounds the yellow part. White material is albumin which solidifies on boiling. The yellow part is yolk. It is part of the single cell. You can observe this single cell without any magnifying device.

Note: This activity can be done by students at home. Alternatively either the Class Assistant or few students can get boiled eggs to the school to observe this
