Objective: To teach the students about waste water and how it can be recycled

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Sewage
  2. Wastewater Treatment Plant
  3. Good house keeping practises

Learning Outcome:

  1. Students know that waste water can be recycled and used again
  2. They know how the waste water can be recycled
  3. They know how the waste/pollutants can be minimised
  4. They know the importance of proper sanitation

1.Divide yourself into groups to perform the activity.

a) Fill a large glass jar 3/4 full of water. Add some dirty organic matter such as grass pieces or orange peels, a small amount of detergent, and a few drops of an ink or any colour.

b) Cap the jar, shake it well and let the mixture stand in the sun for two days.

c) After two days, shake the mixture. How does it smell?

d) Use a filter paper/ Cotton cloth to filter this mixture. What remains? What is the colour?
