Objective: To teach the students about speed, how to measure speed

Subtopics to be covered:

- Measurement of time, periodic and oscillatory motion

- Units of speed and time

- Distance time graph

Learning Outcome:

- Students can define speed, identify if objects moves fast or slow

- They know about odometer

- They would be able to do simple word problems based on speed , time and distance

1. Any 5 students run from one point to another (fixed distance) one by one. Record the time taken. The Speed of each student is the distance run divided by time taken.

2. Any 5 students hop from one point to another (fixed distance) one by one. Record the time taken. The Speed of each student is the distance hopped divided by time taken.

3. Any 5 students walk from one point to another (fixed distance) one by one. Record the time taken. The Speed of each student is the distance walked divided by time taken.

4. Take a stone, tie a thread to it and whirl it with your hand. Observe the motion of the stone. We see that the stone moves along a circular path.
