1. A game between two teams. One team will tell a measurement of length or weight in m/ g and other team has to tell the measurement in km/ kg with proper decimals.

Lesson Plan activities (V.1)

1. Ask a student to denote few decimal numbers on a number line using blackboard.

2. Group the children in pairs. Let them exchange one each of their pen, pencil, note book and text book. Let them calculate the length of each of these objects they got and write the lengths in a table in decimal form. Let them exchange the table and objects and verify.

3. i) Draw a square on the board. Tell the children that you want them to think of that square as one unit.

ii) Split the square into ten rectangular sections. Ask them what fraction of the unit each of these sections is worth (i.e. tenths).

iii) Now split each of the ten sections into ten squares (there should now be 100 small squares inside the large square). Explain that we can split tenths up even more. The smaller sections are called hundredths.


4. square papers of the same measurement. Make 100 equal parts in each square. In the first square, colour 0.1 squares and in the second 0.07 squares.

0.1= 1/10 = 10/100        

0.07= 7/100

Observe the squares which you have coloured. Tell which number is greater? In these, 0.1 is greater than 0.07 i e, 0.1 > 0.07.
