Objective: To teach the students about the physical diversity of India

Subtopics to be covered:

1. Physical Divisions of India

2. Rivers of India

3. Climate of India

Learning Outcome:

1. Students know about the various physical divisions of India and their features

2. They know about the rivers of South India and North India

3. They know about monsoons as well

1. Show the pictures of various monuments in India. Ask the students to identify them and where are they located.

2. Ask students to identify the region for following clues –

  1. There are camels in the region
  2. There are coconut trees in this region
  3. The Rashtrakutas ruled in this region
  4. Taj Mahal is in this region
  5. Oasis are found in this region

3. Ask students to draw a rough map of India and colour the geographical areas as follows

  1. Northern Mountains – blue
  2. Northern Plains – Green
  3. Peninsular Plateau - Pink
  4. Coastal areas – brown
  5. Desert – Yellow

4. Ask students to identify which season is it right now and write about the features of this season that they observe.
