Objective: To learn te phonetic sounds of alphabets

1. Identify words with silent letters at the beginning, middle or the end.

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to answer these questions-

1. Identify and pronounce words with silent letters at the beginning, middle or the end.

2. Write atleast 5 words with silent letters.

3. Is it necessary to pronounce all the letters in a word?

4. What is a silent letter?

5. Why do we have silent letters in the English Language?

1. Give examples of words where a letter is silent. Ask students to make a chart of these words for revision

eg: knife, hour, knee, check, quick, doubt, people, two, talk

Why talk of silent letters when kids do not know even normal phonetics?
