Objective: To teach the students about the solar system and various celestial bodies

Subtopics to be covered:

  1. Movement of the Sun (including changes in shadows and sundials)
  2. The moon (including phases of the moon, surface of the moon)
  3. Solar and Lunar Eclipse
  4. Stars and constellation of stars
  5. Galaxies in our universe
  6. The Solar System (including the sun, planets, asteroids, meteors and artificial satellites)

Learning Outcome:

  1. They know why shadows change shape during a day
  2. They know the different phases of the moon
  3. They know about the solar and lunar eclipse
  4. They also know about the solar system and its various celestial bodies

Divide the class into groups of four/five. Ask the groups to make a model of the solar system using objects around their house like scraps of paper, spare string, rocks etc
