[Author - Kripa S]

Objective: Explain concept of congruence and different congruency tests for triangles

Subtopics to be covered:

- congruency of line segments, shapes, triangles

- SSS, SAS, ASA, right angled triangle congruency tests

Learning Outcome:

- Students will be able to identify if two given triangles are congruent under one of the four tests

- They can solve problems to prove congruency of sides or angles using the tests of congruency

1. Check the biscuits in a packet. Are they all alike? Are they congruent?

2. Check the chips in a packet. Are they alike and congruent? Why not ?

3. Take two congruent copies of a triangle. By paper folding, investigate if they have equal altitudes. Do they have equal medians? What can you say about their perimeters and areas?
